Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications: unity of decisions and actions. On 12 August 2008 in Geneva (Switzerland) the 24th UPU Congress finished its work.

In the period from 23 July to 12 August, Geneva, Switzerland, the 24th UPU Congress was held. 183 countries, 37 international organizations took part in the Congress. The total number of Congress participants was more than 3000, including the delegations of the RCC participants’ countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, Estonia.

Within the framework of cooperation between RCC and Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) the RCC Executive Committee Director General N.N.Mukhitdinov took part in the 7th Plenipotentiary PAPU Conference that was held on 28-29 June 2008, Cairo, Egypt.

Within the Conference highly topical agenda the urgent for Africa region issues related to the 24th UPU Congress preparations were considered. The decisions on the current and future activity of the Union were adopted.

From 23 to 26 June 2008 in the city of Odessa on the basis of the A.S. Popov Odessa Communications Academy within the framework of the ITI Centre of Excellence a workshop “Systems of the digital terrestrial TV, sound and DVB-T, DVB-H, T-DAB, DRM multimedia broadcasting” was held.

The workshop was arranged for the digital TV, sound and multimedia broadcasting experts from the Eastern Europe and CIS countries. Its main purpose is information provision and experience sharing regarding existing state, key tendencies and technical aspects of the digital terrestrial TV, sound and multimedia broadcasting.
