1st meeting of the RCC Commission for Coordination of Communication Regulatory Bodies Activities (5-6 September 2007, Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic) was held.

In the meeting representatives of Communications Administrations and independent regulatory bodies of the RCC participants of: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, RCC Executive Committee as well as the invited persons from Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority took part, in all 28 persons.
The following questions under consideration at the meeting:
Besides, the reports of representatives of the National Communications Agency of Kyrgyzstan “On liberalization of telecommunications market in the Kyrgyz Republic, problems and ways of their solving” were listened and it was considered expedient to familiarize with the experience of telecommunication market liberalization of a host country at the Commission meeting.
In the end of the meeting the RCC Executive Committee was charged to determine the venue and time of the next Commission meeting and complete its agenda.
7th Global Symposium for Regulators.

5 - 7 February 2007 in Dubai (UAE) the 7th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), arranged by the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau in cooperation with Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of United Arab Emirates was held. Among the 470 representatives from 100 national regulatory authorities , private sector and international organizations the representatives of the Communications Administrations, independent regulatory authorities from Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and RCC Executive Committee took part.
The open dialogue between regulators and representatives from private sector, investors and consumers was held under the slogan “The road to the next-generation networks (NGN): can regulators promote investment and achieve open access?”
Among the questions considered at the symposium were interconnection, migration to NGN, fixed and mobile communication and VoIP convergence; new services, new possibilities, consumer protection, quality of service, ensuring fair competition on the basic and access networks, licensing practice, innovations, investments, settlement of disputes in cyber-space, regulators’, consumers’ and industries roles, etc.
Interactive discussion of representatives from private sector, regulators and decisions makers was held.
